We are clay.
Clay is the most primal material of all—earth itself. Created from the slow erosion of stones, each type of clay is unique to its region in colour and mineral properties, a remnant of place and time.
Its first uses marked the human shift from a nomadic to a settled way of life. Formed initially by practical hands to create the foundations of buildings and vessels to serve or store food, clay was one of the earliest materials used to create personal items, objects of expression purely for cultural and familial significance.
Clay is both modest and luxurious, evoking images of handmade vessels alongside wellness treatments. It's mouldable, adaptable, and flexible. Clay can be shaped and reshaped, warming and softening as it is worked. Its forgiving nature offers a deliberate and thoughtful process, allowing for evolution and refinement. Each step requires a balance of technique and intuition, turning simple beginnings into something extraordinary.
In choosing the name clay, we honour its essence and alignment with our ethos and design approach.
